lynn in love with TOMS

I have a habit of buying fugly shoes in San Francisco. I don't know why... I just do. My big purchase in SF this time around where these precious TOM's I bought on Haight Street. Husband is jealous as he wanted a pair as well and there were none in his size. I don't what it is about them that is so endearing to me... it's mishapen shape, it's non glamorous construct, the coarse materials... but I do! I do love them.

Perhaps it's because they look like Keds... but more interesting...
Perhaps it's the handmade feel about them...
Perhaps it's because the creator of TOMS, Blake Mycoskie hails from Arlington, Texas...
Maybe it's because I just bought a kid in Ethiopia a pair of shoes...

It's probably all of those reasons and more combined.... regardless, when I retire my worn out gold summer flip flips, I hope to sporting these shoes lots this fall.

The concept of Tom's is completely charitable. For every one of these canvas TOM's that is bought, another pair is donated to a child in a 3rd world country. At this time, more than 140,000 shoes have been donated. The profits is used to sustain this company's charitable act.

As I love shoes so much, every child should get to own just one pair, right?

If you're interested in this company, here is their website: http://www.tomsshoes.com

I got one of their new snazzy laceup versions on my husband's urging, but I sort of really like their original version as well.

  3. I had no idea that Blake Mycoskie was from Texas. In THAT case, I love them though I am not a loafers kind of girl.
